Best Damn Web Hosts’ Standard Meta Tags

Meta tags are one of the most basic, yet important, areas of SEO. There are numerous tags out there partnered with much debate over which ones are useful and which are useless. We’re not here to add to the arguments, we’re simply going to list the standard tags that webmasters should be using.
<title>You Page Title Here</title>
Should be no more than 75 characters.
Your title should include your site or business name and your keyword phrase.
Example: <title>Best Damn Web Hosts, Best Web Hosting Reviews</title>
<meta name=”description” content=”Your description here”/>
Should be no more than 200 characters.
Your description should be informative about what your site offers
while focused on page and keyword relevancy.
Example:<meta name=”description” content=”Best Web Hosting Reviews, Real Reviews of the Internets Top Hosting Services”/>
<meta name=”keywords” content=”Your Keywords Here”/>
Should be no more than 10 keywords.
Your keywords should be closely related to the focus of your website
and the words you want to show up in search engines for.

Example:<meta name”keywords” content=”best web hosting, web hosting reviews, top web hosting, web hosting review, best web host, best site hosting, best website hosting, best web hosting free, best web hosts, best web site hosting”/>
**I will mention here that there is huge debate about using the same
word more than once and using commas in your keyword list**

Used as listed, assuming that you want your pages indexed.
<meta name=”author” content=”Your Name or Company Name, Email@Domain.com”/>
Not widely supported, but recognized as part of the “Meta Standard.”
